Apartment 3

Located in a quiet residential neighbourhood in Tambaram, Chennai, this apartment is part of a low-rise building surrounded by other residences. While the home receives ample natural light, the views are largely limited to the neighbouring buildings. The design approach therefore focused on creating a warm, inviting interior that feels comfortable, balanced, and visually engaging.

The client envisioned a minimalist home enriched with traditional elements, resulting in a design language that blends contemporary aesthetics with subtle South Indian traditional influences. The living and dining areas are designed to feel warm and welcoming, featuring a soothing palette of beige and brown accented with touches of yellow. Wooden textures play a key role in adding warmth and depth to the space.

The foyer storage unit and the TV unit are seamlessly integrated into a single design element, forming the focal point of the living area. The furniture selection reflects traditional influences, with wooden sofas and a dining table complemented by upholstered cushions reminiscent of classic South Indian homes. A floral-patterned traditional rug adds character and cultural richness to the space, while contemporary artwork introduces a modern contrast that balances the overall aesthetic.

As the client has a strong appreciation for greenery, indoor plants are thoughtfully placed throughout the home to enhance the atmosphere and bring a sense of freshness and vitality to the interiors. The kitchen is designed with clean lines and a simple, functional layout tailored to the client's daily needs. Fluted glass cabinets are incorporated to serve as elegant crockery storage while adding texture and visual interest to the space.

The bedrooms feature a calming monochromatic palette of blue and grey. To avoid visual monotony, a variety of textures are introduced through soft furnishings and materials. A bright geometric rug adds vibrancy and lifts the overall mood of the room, while the wardrobe shutters feature subtle grey patterns that enhance the design without overwhelming the palette.

The wardrobes are customized according to the client's requirements and include integrated features such as a foldable study table and a vanity unit. A fluted glass cabinet within the bedroom functions as a bookshelf, further reinforcing the recurring design language used throughout the home. Wooden textures and fluted panel details appear consistently across all rooms, creating a cohesive design narrative that ties the entire apartment together. The bedrooms ultimately achieve a balance between style and comfort, making them both elegant and cozy spaces to retreat into.
